promotes international collaboration through education, science, and culture in order to strengthen universal respect for justice, the rule of law, human rights and the fundamental freedoms proclaimed in the United Nations Charter.
UNESCO sponsors literacy, technical and teacher-training programs, promotes the independence of media and freedom of the press and develops regional and cultural history projects. They have scheduled events around the world on October 5 to honor and celebrate the work teachers do on the front lines, in harm’s way, to secure peace and cooperation, day after day after day.
